What’s in a Name?

In Tennessee a Child Magistrate judge, Lu Ann Ballew, has ordered the first name of a child changed from Messiah to Martin, although the parents had sought judgment regarding the child’s last name, clarifying his familial relationship.
Judge Ballew argued that there is only one true Jesus Christ and that their decision to name their baby Messiah ran afoul of this Christian principle. She also decreed that all males anywhere in the World with the names of Moses or Mohamed shall be henceforth known as Iggy.
Interestingly, I was just telling my son, Moses Mohammed Jesus Joseph Smith Buddha Christ Hill the other day that what one names a child can greatly influence his achieved station in life…
In retrospect, thank God I didn’t name him Messiah. Here’s the BBC report of this too-strange-to-believe story.
