Sovereign Citizens:

A Truncation of logic by those who practice it

and by the FBI

Editor@TheIndependentDaily.com

From the FBI’s website discussing the growing concern over Sovereign Citizens:

“They may refer to themselves as “constitutionalists” or “freemen,” which is not necessarily a connection to a specific group, but, rather, an indication that they are free from government control. They follow their own set of laws. While the philosophies and conspiracy theories can vary from person to person, their core beliefs are the same: The government operates outside of its jurisdiction. Because of this belief, they do not recognize federal, state, or local laws, policies, or regulations.” Here’s the FBI link.

From my perspective they were doing just fine in their rather poorly written and rambling renouncement identifying the characteristic behaviors of this diasporic non-group collectively bound under the umbrella term, Domestic Terrorist until they included in their definition those who believe that, “The government operates outside of its jurisdiction.”

It does. Any fifth grade schoolchild ought to be able to do the syllogistic math on that one. Let me be clear about this: I don’t think that it does; I know that it does.

I don’t want to make my own license plates nor print my own money - my wife wouldn’t let me manage it if I did, and for good reasons. I don’t want to make my own driver’s license or refuse to plate my car. I believe in paying my taxes to the extent required by the Internal Revenue Service. I don’t want to kill our police officers: they are the only thing that stands between chaos and rule - crime and associated punishment - and are people like you and I who work hard for a living, placing their lives on the line for us day-in and day-out.

But, do I think our government is far outside the law? You bet. Do they sidestep the Constitution? They don’t even try to hide it any longer, and this is the view not of a Constitutional Originalist but of one who sees the Constitution as requiring occasional interpretation: A Constitutional Moderate.

Interpretation, though, does not mean relegating it to the trash heap as is the case by our government today. So, I abhor the FBI’s rendition of Domestic Terrorism because it includes many people who have given much to make this a better country: On the flip side are those who control the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of our country, who do much to destroy it.

Do you see how the FBI is not-too-subtly modifying their definition of Domestic Terrorism to further justify the denigration of the Constitution and associated laws?

I do: It’s called Fascism.
